Plaster Cast alphabet

Problem solving for my final project i want to make quotes out of plaster cast at first it was slabs like bricks however the type was too small and delicate. Then another idea i could make the letters themselves out of plaster however how would they be presented? and would it look just as effective?

Making paster cast of these objects i have made. It didnt turn out very well but hopefully they will improve with practice!

making prototypes

These are my three prototypes for my interactive final idea for my FMP. At the moment there ok but could be improved but its a good starting point. The glasses are a second idea i had as i first created the glasses with paper but then had the idea of using a white hanger and placing the quote by the side. This is something i quickly made and the type would be written on the computer instead to match the other items, i just wanted to see what it would look like. It was harder then i thought to bend the metal but i feel the uneven look creates the feel that this item has been around a long time perhaps even since 1940.

Uncovering the truth

These are a few ideas that i made using ash and quotes about the holocaust. The last images were an idea i took from my visit to the decode exhibition where you could move this dust like substances and uncover these moving images of fish underneath. Therefore i thought for my own project i could apply ash over the top of quotes, allowing people to become interactive and move the ash to uncover what is written underneath. The top image is an idea of taking the same substance such as ash but having 3 different quotes relating to what the ash could symbolise.

More Ideas ....

looking at different ways to tell history. This was an idea where i have made a cigarette box out of white card and added type to a story i researched on Denis Avey who smuggled cigarettes to a jew in one of the concentration camps during the holocaust, with these cigarettes he was able to exchange them for favors such as getting his shoes re-healed which contributed to his survival. This needs to be developed but its a start.
